The President’s Delusions of Grandeur

For Immediate Release: May 6th, 2012

Contact: John Scott
JohnScottVA@gmail.com
434-661-8090

John Scott, Chairman of the Young Republican Federation of Virginia, issued the following statement in response to the President’s visit yesterday to VCU:

The issue is simple. Since President Obama has taken office, young professionals now have to face a dreadful future: 1 in 2 will be unemployed or underemployed. What’s more frightening is this President still has delusions of grandeur that they will all blindly support him.

Brand it with what slogan you wish — ‘Hope’, ‘Change’ or ‘Forward’ — young professionals are not falling for the President’s hollow rhetoric. On the contrary, it galvanizes unaffiliated young voters who see right through his failed promises.

Despite the President’s efforts, Virginia is the nation’s best place for folks to work and live. And it’s because of the efforts of our hard-working Republican leaders that have lead to an increase in economic freedom and a decrease in unemployment: Governor Bob McDonnell, Lieutenant Governor Bill Bolling and Attorney General Cuccinelli, as well as our General Assembly.

Bottom line, the President said when he was elected that he will fix the economy, and if he failed, he deserved only one term. Young Republicans in the Commonwealth are committed to helping the President keep his word by turning Virginia RED this November.

We’ve been telling you for weeks that the Democratic temper tantrum is all about getting committee assignments changed. Now, Sen. Chap Petersen has come out and said just that on his blog, Ox Road South.

We’ll let Chap! speak for himself and the rest of the Democrat caucus:

“… However, the real reason the Senate Budget must lose – at this point – is so the power balance in Richmond can be adjusted and the national embarrassment can end…”

… With both sides and the Governor facing a fiscal year with no State Budget, the need to compromise will be intense. Part of that intensity must perforce drive the Senate Republicans to accept an even division on Committees (especially Courts of Justice and Education and Health, where so many key decisions are made).

Senate Democrats: Forget teachers, firefighters, and the social safety net… our committee seats are at stake!

Court Throws out Democrat Sore Loser Suit
— Court crushes Democrat effort to overturn 57%-41% loss in Senate vote —
Statement of RPV Chairman Pat Mullins:

“A lawyer as skilled as Sen. McEachin should have seen this ruling coming a mile away.

As the judge noted, a court ‘cannot intervene in the normal operating procedures of the Senate and enjoin one of the highest officials in the Commonwealth from performing his constitutional duties.’

If Senator McEachin is willing to file such a frivolous lawsuit, I can’t help but wonder if the next phase of this temper tantrum is for he and his Democrat colleagues to flee the state like their counterparts in Wisconsin did.

Hopefully, Democrats will accept the judgement of Virginia’s voters – and now the courts – with a measure of grace.”

“We are very pleased with the court’s decision. We think it is the right decision, and it is what we expected.
